in mourning
a scrap of mourning fabric that my great-great grandmother pressed between the pages of her Bible
purchased in 1880 upon the death of her daughter, Catherine Louisa, at the age of 4
For Mo
and everyone else I know who has lost a child, of any age
and for those who are still trying, and mourn every cycle
So sad this has happened. To Mo... and to all of us. :(
ReplyDeleteGah. I have no words in response...just tears. Simply beautiful.

DeleteWhat an amazing thing to find... so sad to think of the pain your great-great-grandmother went through. Love to you always xo
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad. She was her only girl, and she was named for my great-great grandmother's mom. The bible is crammed with interesting information. Along with having a daughter that died young, she also had a son out of wedlock when she was only 16. Oh, the scandal that must have been!
DeleteSo touching. Thanks for sharing <3
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful tribute.
